Second in Drawing Room’s cassette series, CJ-1 is a departure for those primarily familiar with Chuck Johnson’s intricate guitar workings. With its hypnotic intensity, the cassette showcases almost a completely different side of Mr. Johnson. Magnetic, droning, and pulsing sounds drive this release with electroacoustic works from 2008 to 2013 created with analog synthesis, MaxMSP, and string instruments. It’s a dreaming expedition for the ears.
